Marea: New Seafood Bar Opens At Newstead Hotel

Marea, a new Seafood Bar, is opening at the Newstead Hotel in Paget, offering an array of delicacies including oysters, crab legs, lobster, mussels, clams, shrimp cocktail, caviar, sushi, salads and more.

A spokesperson said, “A brand-new Seafood Bar, Marea, will open at Newstead Hotel in Paget. Marea, which means ‘tide’ in Italian, is part of phase 2 of the opening of fine dining seafood restaurant, Auròra.”

General Manager Costanzo DiMeglio stated, “There is no other fresh seafood bar in Bermuda over-looking the ocean and we believe it creates an experience for diners unlike no other. We are very grateful to Newstead and Bacardi who believed in and supported this new venture.”

“Marea, located on the pool level, has stunning views overlooking Hamilton Harbour. Bermuda’s only fresh seafood bar is open for dinner from 6pm to 9pm and the bar is open for seated table service from 4pm onwards.

“The seafood bar on ice will be serving raw oysters, Alaskan king crab legs, Jonah crab claws, poached Maine lobster and more. Tantalizing appetizers include ceviche of the day, steamed mussels and clams, poached tiger shrimp cocktail and miso gazpacho. Also on offer is caviar at market price, specialty sushi and salads.

“There are a variety of champagnes, beers, wines, proseccos to enjoy at Marea or for the bolder tastebud, there are out of the ordinary drinks from the Cocktail Menu like Matcha Point with Pimms, Japanese gin, matcha, strawberry, lemon and mint or the Bloody Harakiri with sake, tomato, siracha, miso, ponzu, soy sauce, bok choy and a crab claw!

“Happy Oyster Hour is Wednesday to Friday from 4pm to 6pm with introductory specials like $3 oysters and specially priced bottles of prosecco.

“This week from Wednesday to Saturday there will be live entertainment from 5pm to 8pm with Tony Brannon playing hits on his acoustic guitar from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s. After this week, live entertainment will continue into the summer every Friday and Saturday.

“There is plenty of parking at Newstead but for those who prefer to arrive by sea, there is a ferry stop, Hodsdon’s Ferry, on property at the hotel. The latest ferry schedule is available at marineandports.bm.

“Also completed as part of phase 2 is a state-of-the-art, private dining location called The Cove. The Cove is the ideal place to hold private events, corporate meetings and parties. Email ga@aurora.bm for bookings and information.

“Marea and Auròra are open 7 days a week for dinner. Auròra also serves breakfast and lunch daily, as well as brunch every Sunday. For reservations call 232-8686 or email ga@aurora.bm. Visit www.aurora.bm for menus and more information.”
