Bermuda Beach Art Festival Artist Revealed

Organizers of the fourth Bermuda Beach Art Festival have revealed that this year’s event will continue its tradition of featuring a special guest artist, with Englishman Tony Plant of Newquay, Cornwall confirming that he will on hand for the 2015 iteration of the festival, using the island’s renowned pink sand beaches as his canvas.

The fourth Bermuda Beach Art Festival is scheduled to be held on Saturday, March 28, 2015, on the island’s many beaches.

The first guest beach artist at the inaugural Bermuda Beach Art Festival in March 2012 was Frenchman Sam Dougados, who was then the current Beach Art World Champion, with Jersey Islander Andy Coutanche taking the spotlight during the second year of the event.

Tony Plant will follow up on Californian Andres Amador, who was featured during the 2014 event.

Each artist has brought their own unique styles to the events, creating masterpieces on Bermuda’s beaches for locals and visitors alike to view and enjoy before the tides wash them away forever.

Nicky Gurret, the director of the festival, who is herself a beach artist, said, “Having Tony come to Bermuda in March 2015 is exciting as not only is he he a noted beach artist, but he is also an environmental artist in other mediums, which is particularly interesting.”

As has been the case with past guest beach artists at the festival, there will be free beach art workshops prior to the competition given by Tony Plant for those interested in learning the craft and honing their skills.
