Special Olympics Bermuda held their first Polar Plunge this weekend at Horseshoe Bay, with people taking the plunge in the chilly waters — for Bermuda — to support the charity.

In explaining their mission, the organisation said, “Special Olympics Bermuda was formed with a mission to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition opportunities in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities providing the athletes with continuous opportunities to develop their physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympic athletes and the community.”
