Bermuda’s tourism is set to reach new heights with the upcoming launch of Skydive Bermuda, which recently completed its first test jumps over Dockyard ahead of a planned 2027 debut.
A spokesperson said, “The sky is the limit for Bermuda’s tourism, if a new skydiving endeavour has their way. Bermuda’s first ever skydiving venture, Skydive Bermuda, carried out their first test dives on island last week. The company seeks to launch locals and visitors alike to new heights in 2027, following the securing of relevant permits and permissions.
“Four jumpers, including Skydive Bermuda co-founders, Spencer Butterfield and Christopher Oates, successfully made a number of jumps from a helicopter from Cross Island at Dockyard – which is the hoped-for permanent drop zone for the endeavour. Both solo and tandem dives were made from 13,000 feet above the island, giving the skydivers a spectacular view of the entirety of Bermuda and its surrounding reefs.
“Skydive Bermuda looks to open next year and will offer an unparalleled bird’s-eye view and adrenaline rush to both newbies and experienced skydivers alike. More details about the experiences on offer, from solo dives to tandem diving with experienced instructors, will be unveiled in the coming months.
“Dives were carried out with the support of Paradise Aviation, the holding company of Azura helicopters, a four-generation helicopter family that began in Montana and are excited to launch tour operations in Bermuda in 2027.”

Spencer Butterfield, co-founder of Skydive Bermuda, said: ‘We are so thrilled to share the news about Skydive Bermuda. We think it’s going to be an incredibly exciting addition to Bermuda’s tourism offering as well as something really fun for thrill seekers locally.
“The jumps last week were amazing: exhilarating and astounding in terms of the view. The view of Bermuda from 13,000 feet is something that has to be seen to be believed – we always suspected we lived in the most beautiful place on the planet: now we know for sure!’
‘We want to take the opportunity to thank the Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority, Westend Development Corporation, Bermuda Aviation Authority and Skyport for their support as we work towards our launch.’
Christopher Oates, co-founder of Skydive Bermuda, said: ‘I’m a veteran skydiver, with thousands of dives under my belt – and I can honestly say that the dives we’ve done over Bermuda have been the most visually stunning by far. We have something truly special here and we are so excited to share this unique perspective with the [adventurous!] community soon.’
A spokesperson added, “To keep up with Skydive Bermuda, the public can follow @SkydiveBermuda on Instagram for updates as they happen.”
