Bermuda’s distinctive beauty has found its way into paint collections around the world, with the island’s name appearing on shades ranging from soft pink and shell-inspired neutrals to dramatic blue, turquoise, green and purple.
A Forever Bermuda search uncovered at least 24 colours carrying the Bermuda name — or, in one case, the ‘Bermudan’ spelling variation — across prominent international paint brands and colour collections.
Benjamin Moore offers one of the most extensive Bermuda-inspired selections, with six colours spanning several shades.
Bermuda Pink 016 is a soft but lively washed pink, while Bermuda Breeze 1345 is a richer mid-tone pink with a touch of violet.
The company’s Bermuda Sands 2100-60 blends pink and grey in a shade inspired by delicate shells lining the seashore.
Its cooler colours include Bermuda Blue 2061-30, a deep cobalt; Bermuda Teal 2044-50, a refreshing blue-green; and Bermuda Turquoise 728, a dark teal recalling the deeper reaches of the ocean.
Behr’s collection moves from the almost-white Bermuda Shell 250C-1 to the muted olive shade Bermuda Grass MQ6-57 and the deep blue-grey Bermudan Blue PPU13-18.
PPG has also given the island’s name to several strikingly different colours. Its simply named Bermuda PPG1150-6 is a deep marine aqua-blue, while Bermuda Sand PPG1074-3 is a warm, softly shaded beige.
Two more unexpected additions are Bermuda Grass PPG1225-6, a crisp clover green, and Bermuda Onion PPG1252-7, a dark dusty rose-purple that may be the most distinctively Bermudian name in the entire collection.
The Bermuda name also appears in Valspar’s catalogues on both sides of the Atlantic. The American collection includes the creamy Bermuda Sand 7002-10, while the company’s British range features the warm teal Bermuda Beach House X113R232D.
Elsewhere, Glidden’s Bermuda Bay and Dulux’s Bermuda Pool are both listed under the colour reference 90GG 51/211, with each presenting a tropical aqua or teal shade.
The pink side of the palette extends well beyond North America. Norwegian paint company Jotun offers the peach-toned Bermuda Pink 3243, while PPG New Zealand lists the earthy pink Bermuda Rose.
Australia’s Taubmans has another warm pink called Pink Bermuda, while PPG New Zealand also offers the pale, calming Bermuda Shoal.
The collection grows further with Berger Paints’ pale blue-green Touch Of Bermuda 5P0126 and Harris Paints’ light yellow Bermuda Son 0797.
Together, the colours show just how widely the Bermuda name travels — and how differently designers interpret it. To some, Bermuda means pink sand and seashells; to others, it evokes deep water, tropical greenery, pale sunshine or an unexpected shade of purple.
