Bermuda Airport Earns Service Quality Award

L.F. Wade International Airport has been awarded the 2023 Airport Service Quality Award for ‘Most Enjoyable Airport in Latin America and the Caribbean’ by Airports Council International.

A spokesperson said, “L.F. Wade International Airport, the primary gateway that offers both the first hello and the last goodbye to Bermuda’s air visitors, is once again the winner of a major industry award. After having been voted the best airport of its class in the Latin American and Caribbean region by travelers in 2021, airport operator, Skyport, is honored to announce that Bermuda’s International Airport has been awarded the prestigious 2023 Airport Service Quality [ASQ] Award for ‘Most Enjoyable Airport in Latin America and the Caribbean’ by Airports Council International [ACI].”

Luis Felipe de Oliveira, Director General of ACI World, extended his congratulations in a heartfelt letter, emphasizing the airport’s success in meeting customer needs, “Your customers have spoken and recognized the successful efforts of your team in providing a superior customer experience. Warmest congratulations to you and your entire airport community.”

The spokesperson said, “ACI World is the representative body of over 2,000 airports globally, and its ASQ Awards program is renowned for identifying airports that achieve the highest passenger satisfaction ratings. This recognition from ACI World and the passengers themselves highlights the airport’s commitment to enhancing the travel experience that is shaped in part by its amenities, cleanliness, technology, customer service, on-time flights, and passenger processing.”

Aaron Adderley, President of Skyport, reflected on the airport’s achievement, “This accolade from ACI World and our passengers is a testament to the collective effort of our entire airport community. Building an environment that is conducive to a welcoming and pleasant experience for our island’s air visitors and resident travelers is a role that the airport group of agencies takes seriously, and to be recognized for these efforts is extremely rewarding.”

Mr. Adderley added, “The challenge is for each of our airline partners, service providers, and airport agencies to expand on this momentum, especially during the coming peak season when there will be more passengers and more overall activity stemming from what’s expected to be the highest number of daily flight movements the airport has witnessed in recent years owing to an active schedule led by American Airlines and BermudAir.”

The spokesperson said, “The ACI award represents the third major recognition for the L.F. Wade International Airport since Skyport completed the new $275 million state-of-the-art passenger terminal in December 2020, having also been the first airport in the region to obtain the industry’s Airport Health Accreditation for its comprehensive set of Covid protocols designed for passenger safety during the height of the pandemic in 2020.
