Bermudian actor Nicholas Christopher performed as Aaron Burr in a special Hamilton halftime show during the New York Giants’ game against the Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium on Sunday [September 13].
The performance formed part of the Giants’ programme commemorating the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, with the evening recognising first responders, military personnel and families affected by the attacks.
Christopher joined fellow Broadway performers Mandy Gonzalez, Morgan Anita Wood and Candace Quarrels, who portrayed the Schuyler Sisters, alongside musicians from two university marching bands.
In its announcement ahead of the game, the Giants said, “Halftime will feature a first-of-its-kind Hamilton performance and will bring the acclaimed Broadway musical to the NFL for the first time with a special arrangement by Alex Lacamoire and Don P. Roberts featuring a marching band collaboration with Morgan State University’s Magnificent Marching Machine, Penn State’s Blue Band and soloist Jaheim Lee.
“The performance will feature a medley of Hamilton hits performed by Nicholas Christopher as Aaron Burr with Mandy Gonzalez, Morgan Anita Wood, and Candace Quarrels as the Schuyler Sisters.”
The appearance continued Christopher’s association with Hamilton, having previously portrayed both Aaron Burr and George Washington in productions of the musical.
His Broadway career also includes performances in Miss Saigon, Motown The Musical and Chess, with his role in Chess earning him a Tony Award nomination for Best Leading Actor in a Musical earlier this year.
