The Bermuda Pilot Gig Club hosted a reenactment of the 1775 Gunpowder Plot at Tobacco Bay, revisiting a pivotal moment in history. The event depicted how Bermudians stole more than 100 barrels of gunpowder from the British magazine in St. George’s and sent it to aid George Washington’s troops during the American Revolution.
The daring raid underscored Bermuda’s divided loyalties at the time and remains one of the island’s most significant links to the struggle for American independence.
