Knowledge Quest announced that it has received a donation of $40,000 from Hamilton Princess & Beach Club.
A spokesperson said, “SailGP held its first on-island event, the Bermuda Sail Grand Prix presented by Hamilton Princess, in April of this year. While the sailing event was a success, local restrictions – instated to combat an uptick of Covid-19 cases on-island at the time – unfortunately necessitated the cancellation of some of the sailing competition’s local educational outreach programmes. As a result, the Hamilton Princess have made the decision to donate the allocated budget, as part of its partnership, towards Knowledge Quest’s scholarship fund.”

Knowledge Quest provides an admirable and vital resource to Bermudians in their pursuit of education and we are delighted to be able to support them in their mission.”
“The donation request to Knowledge Quest aligns with the goals set by Hamilton Princess’ partner, SailGP, and its Inspire program which focuses on promoting STEM learning, career pathways, and access to racing for diverse groups of young people regardless of gender or socioeconomic backgrounds.”

“Since 2002, Knowledge Quest has provided college and university scholarships to over 230 Bermudians to enable them to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve their professional goals, improve the quality of the workplace and provide leadership and service to our community,” the organisation said.
“Knowledge Quest’s focus is to be the scholarship of last resort, to give those who are academically capable, but have exhausted all avenues of possible funding, the financial break they need. Knowledge Quest requires that applicants apply to at least five other scholarships before they are eligible for consideration. They must also demonstrate clearly that they are exhausting other available resources and have a compelling need for assistance.
“In 2020, Knowledge Quest awarded a record 24 new scholarships, responding to the increased need associated with Covid-19 job losses and a shrinking economy.

We want to thank the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club for this generous donation of $40,000 which will provide critical funding for approximately four new students for an academic year.”
