Photos: Bermuda’s Team Enter Paralympic Opening Ceremony

The Paralympic Games Opening Ceremony is taking place today [Aug 24] in Japan, and Bermuda’s team has just entered the stadium, with the island’s sole athlete Jessica Lewis carrying the flag.

Ms Lewis will compete in the T53 Women’s 800m heats scheduled for Saturday, August 28th evening [Bermuda time], the T53 Women’s 100m heats scheduled for the evening of Tuesday, August 31 [Bermuda time], and the T53 Women’s 400m heats scheduled for the morning of Thursday, September 2nd [Bermuda time].

The Bermudian sprinter is currently ranked [PDF] third in the world in the 100m — with a time of 17.00 recorded in June 2021 — and she is expected to be extremely competitive at these Games.
