Hamilton Princess Relaunches Afternoon Tea

Following some time away in order to allow for the hotel’s $100 million renovations, Bermuda’s Hamilton Princess will bring about the return of its award-winning Afternoon Tea, an event featuring a number of delectable treats held on weekends at the Crown & Anchor establishment.

Available on Saturdays and Sundays from 3.00pm through 5.00pm, the Afternoon Teas include tea, pastries, scones, and finger sandwiches created by Kevin Pannier, the hotel’s French pastry chef, all served on a new porcelain tea service that was designed exclusively for the hotel.

Chef Pannier brings a French flare to tea with pastries that include Canelée de Bordeaux, Dark Chocolate Profiterole, Rosemary Apricot Panna Cotta and Strawberry Cheesecake, while keeping to Bermudian tradition with Berries Rum Cake.

Additional treats range from fun Mango Passion Lolly Pops to the more traditional Plain and Chocolate Scones served with homemade orange marmalade, berry jam and clotted cream.

In addition, finger sandwiches are served alongside a selection of Harney & Sons Fine Loose Teas. The sandwiches range from Cucumber on Whole Wheat Toast, Micro Greens on White Toast, to Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese on Brown Toast, Chicken Mayonnaise on Whole Wheat Toast, and Roast Beef with Colman’s Mustard on Rye Bread.

Hamilton Princess worked with Bluck’s to commission Herend Porcelain, a Hungarian producer founded in 1826, to create a modern elegant tea set, dubbed “CEA” which stands for Couronne et Ancre [Crown and Anchor in French].

The service’s beautiful pattern was hand-picked and features a white plate with a royal blue circular stripe and a pale blue crown and anchor, a nod to Bermuda’s nautical heritage and the name of the restaurant. The Herend tea service includes a teapot, creamer, covered sugar bowl, teacups and saucers, plates, and a stunning tray with handles.

“Afternoon Tea is a Hamilton Princess tradition as much as it’s a Bermudian one. We are thrilled to bring it back, even better than ever,” said Allan Federer, general manager of the Hamilton Princess. “The stunning china is a perfect addition to the mouth-watering pastries and treats created by Chef Kevin Pannier.”
