Hamilton Princess Flies Ukrainian Flag & Donates Funds

The Ukrainian flag is flying outside of the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club, which has donated $5,000 to the Bermuda Red Cross’ Disaster Appeal for Ukraine, in honour of two of the hotel’s employees who are from the Ukraine.

The donation, received by Bermuda Red Cross, will be sent on to its Ukrainian partner, the Ukrainian Red Cross Society. The funds will be used to send in humanitarian aid to those who are being affected, helping those on the ground in Ukraine receive food, water, first aid, medicines, warm clothing or shelter.

The donation is made in honour of two of the hotel’s employees, Olha Lytovchenko and Oleksandr Kryvchenko, who are from Ukraine. The two employees have been vocal in sharing the experiences of their families back home and of their own heartbreak, gathering outside City Hall over the past weekend.

Tim Morrison, General Manager at Hamilton Princess & Beach Club, which frequently makes donations to local causes, said: ‘Like so many, we have been shocked and dismayed by the news coming out of Ukraine.

“Our thoughts are with everyone affected and those in Bermuda with family there, along with our colleagues, Olha and Olek, and their families. We are pleased to be able to support the Bermuda Red Cross in its humanitarian mission to deliver aid and supplies to the region and we encourage others do so too.’

Ann Spencer-Arscott, Executive Director of the Bermuda Red Cross, said: ‘We are very grateful for this donation from the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club. This is an appalling humanitarian situation which is likely only going to get worse. We urge those who want to do their bit, to support the people of Ukraine, to donate now, so that we can support and protect them as best we can.’

“For those who would like to donate to the appeal, donations can be made directly to the Bermuda Red Cross by direct deposit: Bank of Butterfield at 20 006 060 663859 200. Donations can also be made online at www.BermudaRedCross.com, over the phone by calling 236-8253 from Monday through Friday, 8:30am until 4:00pm, or in person at the Red Cross offices on Berry Hill Road.”
